Memorial Day is this weekend and this is when we take time to respect and remember. We have things in our collection at Valentown that have a military history but they cannot speak about those who owned them. Their stories are sometimes fused into a whole view. But that image is really created like tiny pixel fragments of individual stories and people. We are all obliged to listen, record and connect those "dots" not just for history but to keep us humble and on a good path.
We are dishing out some very special deals at Historic Valentown! So please visit us for our Open House on June 3rd from 1-4 p.m. and "collect" a collector's plate of your choice! We are sharing (one to a customer please) a trove of Vintage plates donated by the Valentine family. The plates range in all subject matter from wildlife to oriental designs. So come on down!
S.O.S.= Save Our Siding. Our Riding for Siding event on June 24th is our first event to raise money for repairs to the Valentown Siding. Recently we came across another historic building in the area that almost matches our cedar siding. We suddenly realized that the individuals who built our Hall probably were hired out to build other structures at the time. Could there be some material out there in good condition that would match for our needs? We have sample boards to compare.
